RJ enjoys sports, writing, reading and public speaking. He has a degree in sports journalism and communication studies from the University of Alabama.
He is currently an athlete reporter and communications fellow with Special Olympics North America. RJ has been involved with Special Olympics for nearly two decades, starting as an athlete and transitioning into an Athlete-Leader, Self-Advocate and Athlete Reporter. In 2018, he was as an athlete reporter with Special Olympics Maryland at the USA Games in Seattle, Washington, where he interviewed SportsCenter’s Kevin Negandhi. He is published on ESPN.com, with story featuring a Minnesota athlete and his involvement with the X-Games Unified event.
