Natia

Hello, my name is Natia Brown. I have a less severe case of diplegic cerebral palsy where I was only affected physically. Although it has been hard for me, I want to become an advocate for others with CP.

I was born with my left leg turned inward. As I was growing up, I was told I had spina bifida (I was born with a curved spine) and that I would grow out of it. It wasn’t until I was 10 years old when my mom took me to Shriners Hospital where they diagnosed me with cerebral palsy. I was also able to receive surgery to straighten my left leg but I still walk with both of knees bent.

Ever since then, I have not let anything stop me. I have gone on to go to college and graduate school to become a social worker. I am proud to be a part of a community of people who are determined and independent.

I know there are a lot of things I cannot do but there a lot of things I can and I will focus on that. I hope to bring more awareness to CP and teach others that we are all different!
