Bert
Bert is a 2-year-old boy who was diagnosed with CP this year. He loves playing with cars, talking about cars, and watching “Cars.” He also loves playing outside (with his cars), college football (Let’s go, Mountaineers!), and eating.
Bert was diagnosed with spastic diplegia Cerebral Palsy when he was 20 months old after being referred to a neurologist due to his global development delay. Bert is young still, but his parents wish people knew that CP research needs more funding because children with CP grow into adults with CP.
Bert is obsessed with cars and trucks. He especially loves monster trucks and garbage trucks. His favorite movie is “Cars,” and his hero is Lightning McQueen. He also enjoys watching college football, going to church and the library, eating, and playing with his brother Hank and his dogs Asha and Jane Austen. For fun, Bert goes to dance class and is part of an adaptive swimming class. He is especially grateful to his pediatrician Dr. Johnson, his PTs Barbara and Jennica, and his swim instructors Linda and Evelyn for all they do for him.
